Learning Cycle

Context:

This lesson plan was created under the supervision of Dr. Terry Carrol in GS 4401 in the summer of '08.  Students worked in pairs to complete a unit on a Learning Cycle.  My partner and I chose to work on the water cyle.

Impact:

Students learned about what it takes to plan a unit on one of the learning cycles in Science.  They had to come up with a fun way for their students to learn about a cycle.

Alignment:

Standard 3: Elementary teachers have a broad knowledge and understanding of the major concepts in science.

Indicator 1: Teachers have knowledge of basic life science concepts including:

Details: Life cycles, mutations, and adaptations

Indicator 1 of standard 3 was met because in my lesson plan I had the students learn about the water cycle by doing an activity.  They also had a worksheet and an assessment with the activity.

Standard 10: Teachers provide active inquiry experiences in the teaching of science by using various questioning skills and developing science processing skills (predicting, classifying, measuring, inferring, interpreting, analyzing, and synthesizing).

This standard was met when the studnets had to learn and experienc ethe experiment on their own.
