  6. 2003 book - THE EXIT SHOW - Anne F Walker 2003 book - THE EXIT SHOW - Anne F Walker
The Exit Show continued to explore aesthetic synthesis, the change being that the subject matter itself is also to do with plurality, with shifting heteronormative images. Moving around into various narrative stances, with various aesthetic tools, helps me to understand a more complicated, plural, model of the world. I see value in a tremendous range of forms and explorations. Rather than link myself with one particular school of poetics, I honor aesthetic diversity and utilize fusion.

  9. 2010 book - AMERICAN URBAN POETICS - Anne F Walker 2010 book - AMERICAN URBAN POETICS - Anne F Walker
... an entirely new approach to literary study, something really new and different ...close readings informed by principles regarding the links between language and contemporary urban society that resonated strongly with her audience. Her aesthetic analysis of forms and language of works of selected contemporary Chicano and African American poets made a powerful and persuasive case for the artistic qualities of texts that others could easily overlook. Walker is an original who is working a literary landscape that is one she has discovered and one for which she designed at UC Berkeley a Ph.D dissertation that connects Social Geography, American Literature, Comparative Literature and Ethnic Studies. In American Urban Poetics she is bringing together theories, texts, and social contexts in ways that draw upon Donna Haraway's understanding of "situated knowledge" which enables her to explore the ways in which things are constantly shifting in relation to others. In the contemporary urban setting, the artist does not capture and hold people, objects, ideas, and words in place but lets us see them in moving relation to each other--Emory Elliott, University of California

  16. 2016 chapbook - WHEN THE LIGHT ... - Anne F Walker 2016 chapbook - WHEN THE LIGHT ... - Anne F Walker
Walker’s are wonderful books as well. She is an astute observer of social sites, social spaces and she has a strong commitment to creating such sites as places in which people can flourish. Walker has credentials and credibility as a poet. –Lyn Hejinian These poems are fragile beauties, reflecting their subject matter--the transition from tangible physical connection to absence and loss. Walker's choice images, rhythms, syntax, and lineage are surprising and perfect, terse and contained. But by these boundaries, she's created opening after opening, so that this slim volume feels weighty and vast in its reach and significance. Sensual and intimate, when the light of any action ceases, helps the reader articulate their own journey of longing and grief. –Dawn Trook Anne Walker's When the Light of Any Action Ceases collects poems of departure. There is never just one ending in love. Walker explores the small departures of love wherein one prepares for the true conclusion. These poems of endings offer moments of insight into a self layered with the landscape of another. The lover leaves an impression in the sheets, the air of the room, and the self in Walker's careful image poems. –Jenny Sampirisi
