Safety & Health Program for Carroll County High School Building Trades

Instructors are trained OSHA 500 trainers

Students are required to complete the OSHA 10-hour certification course before any lab or live work.

Students are trained on all hand and power tools that are used in Building Trades at Carroll County High School.

Students are never allowed to use any power tools without instructor permission and presence.

The 6" rule is strictly enforced: "students are never allowed to have any body parts within 6" of moving blades."

Shop, lab, and job sites are maintained in a clean, neat, orderly training area.

Slips, trips, and falls are prevented by orderly work site, fall protection use and training.

Plan is developed for remediation training for incidents, accidents, and any disregard for our shop rules through Career Safe.

Building Trades has a Zero tolerance policy for accidents in and out of school.

Carroll County High School Emergency codes and plan are taught and practiced (Fire, Hazardous Weather, Lock Down, Evacuation Plan).
