The Carroll County High School Building Trades program has 12 student computers in the classroom and has access to multiple full capacity computer labs. This technology is utilized in the following traditional and supplemental capacities.
Traditional:
-
Students research and explore the OSHA site. While the OSHA-10 course is taught, students must become familiar with the contents of the OSHA site to be able to address issues independently after they leave school.
-
Students research and explore the Virginia DPOR site. This site has information on contractor licensure, "class" designations and requirements, tradesmen licensure and designations including covered trades, and the PSI examination site. Any student pursuing licensure will need to utilize this site in the future.
-
Miscellaneous topical research
Instructional:
-
SMARTboard for electronic lessons and instruction
-
TV with DVD/VCR
Individual Remediation:
-
PLATO instructional program installed on classroom computers (this has enhanced and increased the Industry Certification testing pass rates)
Equipment:
-
SawStop table saw - a technologically advanced saw with a safety feature that will cut construction materials but will immediately shut down with human contact.
-
Laser level (transit) - exposes students to technological tools of the trade
