Praxis II Subject Assessments Information (updated-August 2024)

PreK-9 Programs

Note: Candidates must check Maryland Requirements Page at the Praxis Website (https://www.ets.org/praxis/md/requirements/) to verify the test information before registering for tests, as requirements are adjusted regularly.

TESTING REQUIREMENTS

For admission to Phase III of the P-9 Programs, verification of having taken or having registered for the required Praxis II Subject Assessment tests is required.

To be hired in the state of Maryland, the required tests must be passed at the level prescribed by the state.

REQUIRED TESTS

For EC/ELEM majors, there are four required items in the Praxis II Subject Assessments series. Five items are listed as state requirement, but since FSU has a combined major for EC/Elem, only three are required. However, some districts require the 2nd Early Childhood subject assessment for new hires.
