Young Latina Project

During the fall and spring semester of my senior year, I will be participating in a research project through IUPUI's Center for Research Learning. IUPUI developed the Multidisciplinary Underhraduate Research Institute (MURI) to create research teams and to provide undergraduates with an opportunity to participate in the research being done on campus. I will be working with Dr. Silvia Bigatti and Dr. Monica Medina on the Young Latina Project. The goal of the study is to develop and test the feasibility and preliminary efficacy of an intervention to prevent and or decrease depressive symptoms in Latina teens through resilience-building, ethnic identity development, and skills development. During the spring semester, our MURI team will host a weekly program with 20 young Latina girls that focuses on important themes in their life. Each week will focus on a different topic and twice a month we will be inviting guest speakers to the program. This page will be updated as the program is held in the spring semester.
