Education includes activities that teach important skills to students. Education is a continual process that never ends. It is the imparting of knowledge to students that they can then take and apply to their lives on a daily basis. The purpose of education is to ensure students have basic skills and knowledge they need to live productive lives as adults. Educating a diverse group of students requires commitment to understanding the range of learning processes students possess.
Education can and should be fun. The process of educating a child should include activities and lessons that reach to every student in the classroom. Every single student should feel included and important. Furthermore, students should be eager to come to school to learn; not dread each day because their teacher doesn’t understand them, or their fellow classmates make fun of them.
In order to provide a positive learning atmosphere, students need to be assessed on their progress as often as necessary, to confirm that all students are learning the required material. Such assessments can be performed by making use of informal assessments, such as large group discussions, or formal assessments, like a pop quiz. In addition, students should receive praise for a job well done. Focusing on desired behaviors rather than misconducts is not only more appropriate, but typically generates better results among students.
Because of my personal beliefs on the matter of education, my main objective as an educator is to do everything I can to ensure every day of school in my classroom is a positive learning experience for each and every one of my students. In doing so, I believe I can inspire academic growth in my students. I believe I can motivate students to become active participants in their own education. Finally, because of my beliefs on what education is and should be I can focus on presenting real-life and relatable instruction, whereby my students and I can learn and grow together.
Finally, through defining my purpose as a teacher, I understand there is not a cookie cutter formula that can be applied in numerical order for students to learn. I have learned much time, dedication, and diligence will be required on my part to ensure I stay abreast on changes that may affect my students. I also recognize the need for diversity and inclusion of all students. It is my greatest hope and desire to become a catalyst of fun learning experiences for my students; to encourage and motivate them to reach for more knowledge and education.
