You and your fellow staff members of The Imperial Times need to get started on the special edition NOW in order to make your deadline! You will take on the role of either department manager, reporter, or photojournalist in order to show all the varying aspects and viewpoints of the Age of Imperialism. We have sent our editor, Mrs. Windle out into the field and our reporters all over the globe in search of exciting new stories! You will all meet together to collaborate before the issue goes to print!
Imagine you are a newspaper reporter for the Imperial Times. Your teacher is your Editor. Your assigned task is to cover an important and controversial world issue: Imperialism. Your assignment will be a person or event from Asian, African, or Latin American history. You must write a newspaper article all about your topic following certain guidelines your editor has laid out for you. You want to present your readers with both sides of the story: The Imperializing country’s and the dominated country’s as well. Newspaper articles should be as objective as possible!! So watch your personal opinion! Don’t forget: you really want to write a good article: you want to finally make the front page!! (Everyone else has different topics, and they want to see their article up front, not yours!) This will be a wonderful advance for your career in journalism.
• Your problem is: You’ve got the Chicken Pox—and can’t get out of your house!! Bummer!!
• Guess you have to use the internet to get your article written!
