Internship

I have recently have done an internship with a local police department in my hometown. My internship was with the Hanover Sheriffs Office. This was a fun and exciting experience. With this internship was able to do ride along where I rode with deputies, and when they went were called because of an emergency I went with them and watched. This was really fun because I got to see them pull over people and give them a ticket, and on some occasions they let them off with a warning. We went on a couple of calls where it was a domestic disturbance. I observed how the deputy handled it and for the most part he was pretty calm and collective.

I was also visiting with the jails. I watched correctional officers work and how they would handle some of the inmates. There were different cells, some were for general population, others were disciplinary cells, and there were an area for protective custody cells. This was fun because there was a variety of people that was in jail.

I also went to watch court proceedings; this was interesting because I was able to see the judge rule each court. After watching the different court cases I was able to receive a tour of the whole courthouse.

I was also able to observe their investigations unit; this was the most fun part. It was really interesting because he was questioning someone who was raped. He was trying to gather as much data so he could try and find the guy.
