TPA @ TIU   Highlights

The Teacher Performance Assessment (TPA) will be the primary assessment used during the Clinical Experience.  Starting the 2012-2013 academic year the TPA will replace the Final Portfolio and serve as a requirement for Gate 4: Recommendation for Initial Certification.  For the purpose of transitioning to and preparing for this assessment, the Division of Education is requiring a Pre Clinical TPA.

  • The Pre Clinical TPA is replacing the Developmental Portfolio beginning Spring, 2012.  It is a requirement for Gate 3: Admission to Clinical Practice.
  • The Pre Clinical TPA is composed of five tasks based on one lesson that you have taught during a pre clinical experience (i.e., Junior Block, Methods Block, FEP, Multicultural, etc.).  The completed tasks are submitted to TaskStream.  The Pre Clinical task forms are available here.
  1. Task 1A: Context for Learning
  2. Task 1B: Lesson Plan
  3. Task 1C: Planning Commentary
  4. Task 3: Assessing Student Learning
  5. Task 4: Analyzing Teaching
  • All completed tasks are submitted to Gate 3 on TaskStream.
  • The Pre Clinical TPA will be reviewed by TIU Education professors who will provide feedback to assist you in completing the Clinical TPA, which you will submit at the end of your Professional Semester.
  • All Education majors will continue to need to have a current TaskStream subscription until graduation.
