Using an audio story in conjunction with a paper and ink book can help greatly with reading comprehension and word recognition. This type of media can also help build confidence in a child's own skills and provide a path for faster reading acquisition.
-
Specific goals for use: 1.) Create ability for children to read alone, 2.) Increase reading comprehension and confidence
-
This audio story addresses literacy skills, as well as self-esteem and personality lessons due to the book’s subject matter.
-
Listening to a story while reading the same book most likely would appeal to visual and audio learners, as well as those who may be a combination of both.
-
Using an audio story would be a self-paced, student-directed activity.
-
Either an individual or a small group could use this media project.
-
Assessment will come with small reading groups where each child will read to a teacher.
