This letter exemplifies Sub Standard 4a because it demonstrates a desire on my part to make an initial connection with students in my class and let them know who I am.  The letter also briefly describes what one of my major roles in the class will be (leading the insect unit), and encourages them to get excited about what I will be teaching them.  This type of introduction is important because it shows respect towards students and treats them as mature learners.
