The passage of federal legislation, such as the No Child Left Behind Act, has resulted in substantial changes in terms of accountability in our K-12 public schools. Likewise, teacher education programs, in order to remain accredited, have also become more accountable. Faculty and staff in the UAB School of Education are pleased that the School of Education recently sailed through the accreditation process. One major reason for this accomplishment is the comprehensive assessment model that has been implemented for candidates in all of our Teacher Education Programs. In EDU 200, you will learn a great deal about this assessment process and how it will impact you as you proceed through your program. On this page, are sections that:
(1) address admission requirements;
(2) provide an overview of the assessment model (i.e., the "big" picture);
(3) identify the high stakes artifacts (and related outcomes) that you will be required to pass during your porgram;
(4) provide on overview of the No Child Left Behind Act; and
(5) give you information about how to submit high stakes artifacts if you received transfer credit for courses (see advisor).
