Home > PRESENTATIONAL TASK: El Cante Flamenco en Mi Vida
Note: All instructions at an AP level would be given in Spanish. When I send the final implementation of this project I will attach all papers in English and Spanish.
1. Choose one of your favorite pieces of art, such as a song, dance, painting, pottery... that you believe demontrates/represents the messages and themes of a flamenco song. This work of art should represent the same "soul-inspiring" sentiments as exemplified by el cante flamenco in the songs we studied. Please have the work of art approved before you begin your research.
2. Begin you research and use any resources available to you. Prepare a short, informal bibliography of your sources, and present this in written form to teacher at the time of your presentation.
3. Prepare a short biography of the artist of the piece. Include:
a. place of birth
b. cultural influences and time period of piece
c. main points of interest of the artist's life (education, family, travels...)
4. Find meaning and interpret the work of art you have chosen as it relates to el cante flamenco. Prepare your personal reaction to the work. It should include:
a.description of piece (what we see, hear-- lyrics, if it is a song)
b. messages and themes of the piece, with explanations of comparison to el cante flamenco
c.personal. opinionated statements about the piece (feelings, likes, emotions evoked...)
5. Summary: Tell us why you chose this particular piece and what you hope to teach us about the work, the artist, and the relationship to el cante flamenco
