Lesson 1 explained how we live in a world of technology as new technology is always being created and that we are constantly trying to stay up to date with all the new technology although it is basically impossible to do so. In lesson one we learned about the four perspectives of technology in education, the history or digital technologies, what instructional technology is, the systems and applications that serve as educational resources, the rationale for using technology in education, and the standards of educational technology and the Education Department.
The purpose of this assignment was to show our understanding of technology. In the first part of the assignment, we needed to explain the benefits of technology that we read about regarding the science, social studies, mathematics, and reading. Each subject had its own various benefits from technology. On this part we also needed to explain how we would incorporate technology in our classroom to teach the lessons. For the second part of the assignment, we chose a video to watch in which we summarized what happened throughout the video. There were questions that was required to be answer regarding the video that we watched. The assignment relates to Standard 5:Designer 5a(iSTE) as the little boy in the video I watched was creating his own video games enhancing his knowledge. It relates to Standard 3:Learning Differences as in the first part of the assignment we learned about the multiple benefits that technology has. In my assignment, I included different ways that a child can learn mathematics and reading skills. Lastly, the assignment relates to Indicator 1.5 (CAEP) as the little boy in the video used feedback comments to create and adjust the video games he was designing.
