My focus is Modern American history, with particular emphasis on urban race relations in the Progressive Era and Interwar Period. My M.A. thesis addressed black Chicago's response to the revived Ku Klux Klan of the 1920s, and I am currently looking into the potentially discriminatory practices of the Home Owners Loan Corporations and uses of their residential security maps in American cities in the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s.
