My philosophy of teaching is to give children a good foundation to build upon to be successful in school, and become good citizens. I want my students to enjoy and know the importance of learning and realize education provides opportunities and opens many doors. Children are like sponges that soaks up everything; a teacher should build the students’ self-esteem, teach learning is fun and make the children want to go out and learn more on their own. A teacher should realize the lasting impact they have on a student. They can ensure the child has a good day that carries through to a great school year or the student can feel unsuccessful, be turned off by school which leads to low grades, poor attendance and even dropping out of school. A classroom should be open so the students will feel free to ask questions, express opinions, and have engaging discussions. I want my classroom to be an environment that will encourage students to acknowledge differences between themselves with respect, acceptance, and tolerance. Teachers are role models not only in the classroom, but also in the community and must have good communications skills to work well with the students, parents, and administrators. A teacher has an enormous responsibility that I strive to meet.
