Alignment:
This assignment aligns with the following DPI program standards:
Standard 17: Elementary teachers understand safety and liability issues in elementary and advocate for appropriate safety materials and enforcement practices in the classroom.
Indicator 1: The safety check-sheet ensures that safety issues and instructions are given to students when completing a science lab.
Indicator 2: The safety check-sheet allows me to research the chemicals and materials in the classroom prior to a science lab or activity ensuring safety.
Indicator 3: I have the knowledge and can comply with the science Safety Laws, Codes, and Standards by completing the Science Safety check-sheet.
Indicator 4: With the Science Safety check-sheet, I model and communicate appropriate safety behaviors with my students. I showed students the importance of knowing where the fire extinguisher, sink, and health records are located.
