Internship Experience

My responsibilities at the beginning were to observe and learn about the classroom environment. However, after two days of observing I completed a science experiment with Cartesian Divers introducing students to potential and kinetic energy. On the third day at Mountain View Shannon Williamson, the Appalachian State University intern in Mrs. Treadway’s sixth grade classroom and I started our Service Learning project with Mrs. Wiles and Mrs. Treadway’s classes. The students created a school safety video informing kindergartners about playground, cafeteria, fire, bus, crossing the road, and classroom safety. I taught an Energy and Heat unit for CI-4000 and CI-3543 requirement as well. I taught three math lessons, a story picture lesson on health for CI- 3750, completed a reading assessment on an EC sixth grade student for RE-4030 and a math case study for CI-4030. This internship was a great experience for me and introduced me to an upper grade classroom environment. I am glad I was given the opportunity to complete my internship at
