St. Mary Episcopal Church

Context:
The St. Mary Episcopal Church is a valuable teaching tool to use in an upper elementary art or social studies class. The St. Mary Episcopal Church paper was created at Wilkes Community College under the advisement of Tamara Grayson. I completed the assignment as a requirement of ART-2011, Art Appreciation.
The St. Mary Episcopal Church paper describes the church’s Early Christian Architect characteristics such as one of the most ancient symbols found in art history a Cross, which is the symbol of universal, the St. Mary Episcopal Church design gives the impression of a Tau Cross. The church also has characteristics of a Gothic Church such as stained glass windows.
Impact:
The St. Mary Episcopal Church paper will allow students to learn about the art history during the 1900s and characteristics of Early Christian and Gothic Church architecture. Art vocabulary, such as narthex and nave, will be introduced to students using the St. Mary Episcopal Church. The paper also provides digital images of the church, which will assist in teaching visual learners.
