Rationale for Newsletter

Context

Using Microsoft Publisher, I created a 1-page newsletter to send home with the students in my block internship at Mountain View Elementary School. I used a digital camera and used a scanner to insert a childhood photo of myself. Within the newsletter I included clip art, the dates of my internship, and information about myself.

Impact

When I teach I can use Microsoft Publisher to send out newsletters and brochures to inform students and parents of current events pertaining to the class. I can also use Microsoft Publisher to create awards for the students. Students can create newsletters and brochures for various projects in the class.

Alignment

I have met competency VC because creating newsletters on a computer is much more efficient than using paper and pencil. I can reuse this newsletter from year to year and change it as I need to.

I have met NETS-T competency VD and NCDPI standard for elementary educators #16, indictor 3 because this newsletter allows me to communicate with parents using technology.
