TEST DAY

we will be taking the 2 tests for Measurement of Matter -
These tests will cover your understanding of the concepts from the entire unit:
Mass, Weight, Volume, Density, Length, temperature.
What tools you use to measure these units and how you would go about measuring.
King Henry Dies By Drinking Chocolate Milk
Metric Conversions - Kilo -through - Milli
(Yes, I AM going to give you actual problems to solve!)
WATCH THE METRIC CONVERSION PPT from our website in SEPT. - it HELPS!
Measuring mass and volume of regularly shaped (HxWxL) and irregularly shaped objects  (Think of Archimedes and the crown)
I LOVE Density formula D=M/V
What happens to Density when you change Mass but not volume?
What happens to Density when you change Volume but not Mass?
Visualizing density based on how something floats or sinks.

Motion of Particles Lab part 1 (pgs 6-7)
Volume and Mass of a Gas video (pg 10) see the link below or go to our videos tab

HOMEWORK!! pg 5        1- Blow up a balloon - measure it from top to bottom (both sides) and around the fattest part put it in the freezer overnight - in the morning take it out and remeasure
- then leave it in a warm spot
all day when you get home remeasure again -record all measurements-
If the measurement has not changed, put the balloon in a microwave for 30 seconds on high and then measure it.

2- Fill a paper or plastic or styrofoam cup (not glass) with 1/2 cup of water - mark the water line on the cup.
Put this in the freezer overnight. In the morning mark where the ice line is -record the difference in ML

3-record info-  write up of your observations (what you saw happen) on page 5 of your packet
HAVE YOUR PARENTS SIGN THAT YOU DID THIS LAB

As you are well aware, October 23rd is the end of term 1. Therefore I would plead with you to know your materials for the test.
Have your packets, have your density towers, have all your Science in the News and Inquiry Projects in...
DO THE STUDY STATIONS and be ready for the TEST~~~
Changing a grade after the fact is difficult for you...
