Welcome to Standard 1 - Development, Learning and Motivation section of my online portfolio. I have included various artifacts from my Childhood Education preperaton program to show that I have met this standard.
Some Highlights from the Reading Response
I have included a Reader Response from my EDU 379 course at SUNY Cortland. The reader response is from the textbook, "Access to Academics for all students: Critical Approaches to Inclusive Classrooms, Instruction, and Policy" by P. Kluth, D. Straut, & D. Biklen (eds.) (2003). The textbook has educated me about many major concepts and points, that will help me in my future career of becoming a teacher. I wrote about five key facts that I found to be important from the book. I described those main points, and then I connected the topics with situations that I observed in my host classroom. I also used the five points and related them to my future classroom, and how I would incorporate them in my future teaching career.
By completing this artifact I have learned about the many important roles and duties of teachers. A lot of the chapters in the book, I could relate them to situations that occurred in my host classroom. I also learned about how teachers should work around their students, especially in inclusive settings. I thought it was important for me to see how similar the reading is, with the classroom. I enjoyed reading this book, and it has taught me many things that I will bring and use with me in my future. The paper is also in APA format, and I learned how to correctly site, and complete a reference page. This format was an important step for me to learn, because I will need to use this format in my future courses at SUNY Cortland.
