Busy in Kindergarten

Good Morning! I hope you're enjoying this summery day. We're already off and running this morning- we've practiced writing upper and lowercase A, read a story about Christopher Columbus (and looked at a world map), worked on ways to make the number 9 (e.g, 5 and 4, 6 and 3), and played a giant game of dominoes.  We are now busy at centers.  This afternoon after library and Spanish, we will have reading groups, learn more about the letter M, and if we can find the time do some writing in shaving cream! I really recommend shaving cream writing at home if your child is reluctant to practice writing.  Just spray some onto a surface (counter, bathroom floor, colored cutting board, cookie sheet) and spread it out to use your finger to write.  I promise it cleans up easy!

This week we will continue to work with numbers 1-10 and problem solve with those numbers.  We will study the sounds of M and S in detail and practice reading and writing the sight words "I", "like", "the" and "and".  We will practice writing upper and lowercase A and B.  We will begin to work on writing sentences and learning story structure (character, setting, problem, solution).  We will study the story of the Good Samaritan, and on Friday we will celebrate Mass with the Bishop.  We'll also be making so beautiful Halloween art.

Have a great day!
