Content Specialty Test (CST)

The ePortfolio contains directions on how to upload your score report from your Content Specialty Test. This New York State test is aligned with NCATE's Key Program Assessment #1:  Content Knowledge.

You will have an opportunity to upload up to three attempts for test completion. You will have to scan your score report to a PDF file and upload it to the ePortfolio. Follow the directions on that tab. Students who have not passed the CST by 27 units of study will have a hold placed on their student account. You must go see an advisor.

Your uploaded score report will be compared with NYS reports.

Summary:

The Content Specialty Test addresses NCATE Key Program Assessment #1 and CEC standards #1-10.  Candidates are required to pass this assessment by the time they have completed 27 credits.

Purpose:

“The New York State Teacher Certification Examinations™ (NYSTCE®) address New York Education Law and Commissioner's Regulations, which require prospective New York State educators to pass designated tests as a requirement for receiving state certification.”

Scan and then save your CST score report to a PDF file. Name the report by your last name_CST Score Report. Then attach the PDF file that contains your score report for Administration 1 of this examination and submit your report for evaluation.  Your attachment will be matched with the State generated report.

As you submit your work, please be cautious to avoid the following scenarios:

• Do not forget to Submit your work after you Attach it. It is a two-step process – Attach then Submit. Changes can be made before you Submit; however, after submitting, the placeholder is locked.
• Remember to Attach all files to Submit the first time. Upon submission, the placeholder is locked, and can only be unlocked by having the faculty Evaluator return the submission to you for revision and resubmission.
• If you submitted files to the wrong placeholder, or submitted the wrong file to the proper placeholder, it will still require the faculty Evaluator to return the submission.
• If there are two or more placeholders with the same name, generally one is an older requirement and one is a newer. In all cases the lower (or second, third) placeholder is the newer requirement, so please use that lower one. In many cases, the system has been altered to exclude the older requirements from your view of TaskStream; however, some exceptions may prevent this from happening. For further detail, please click on the requirement and look at the description. The effective date should be listed. For example, requirements may include “In use effective Fall 2013” or something similar.
