In May 2013 I will be apart of a 10-day cultural immersion experience touring the central American country of El Salvador. The focus of this trip is to learn about the cultural of the country as well as to explore issues of social justice as they pertain to the country's economy, poverty, violence, religion, and government structure. Specifically, we will be learning about their Civil War and the large influence the US exterted in the controversial goal to contain communism. I was goven this opportunity by Loyola's department of Campus Ministry after submitting a series of essays about social justice and economic inequity, and by participating in an interview process.
