Dear Teacher Education Candidate,

The College of Education is seeking accreditation by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). One of the requirements for accreditation is that the College must assess its candidates at various points in their careers. To that end, we have developed what we are calling Program Milestone Reflections. You will be required to answer a set of questions on learner development, learning differences, learning environments, content knowledge, application of content, assessment, planning for instruction, instructional strategies, professional learning and ethical practice, and leadership and collaboration. You will be required to answer the same set of questions at three points in your candidate career: 1) when you have earned 60-72 hours, 2) at the time that you apply for student teaching, and 3) at the completion of student teaching.

You will be given instructions on how to upload your responses to your TaskStream account. The objective of this exercise is to give us data to show the accreditation agency how our teacher education candidates progress and improve their knowledge at various points in their teacher education candidacy.

I will be happy to answer any questions that you might have about this matter. If you have questions, please contact me at your convenience.

Sincerely yours,

Kyle Perkins
