During my last semester at Chandler-Gilbert, I had the absolute PRIVELAGE of taking Children's Literature. I have always been a bookworm, so being in a class that taught me how to make avid readers of my students was wonderful. During this course, I was able to explore the many genres of children's literature and I learned ways to implement the themes in my classroom. In addition, I learned the characteristics of a literature rich classroom and the fundamentals of a successful read-aloud. During service learning, I was able to perform two read-alouds and teach corresponding lessons and activities. With the knowledge I gained in this course, I feel I will be successful in providing my students with a very literature rich curriculum.
