Letter to Parents

One of the most exciting units for me during this course, was the unit on poetry. I had always been a little apprehensive about the thought of teaching poetry in my own classroom one day, but after being exposed to this creative and fulfilling type of literature from a teachers point of view, I can not wait to teach it in my classroom! When I heard that some parents felt it was unnecessary in this time of preparation for standardized tests and accountability, I was a little disheartened and disappointed. Below, you will find a letter I wrote to parents with this mindset.
