My name is Margaret D Cody; I am currently a science Middle School Educator, for SJCSD. I began my teaching career in 1982. I’ve taught regular ed. 1^st grade as well as high school and middle school resource ESE. Some of my best times are finding new programs online for teachers to use in their classrooms and mine. I have actually been able to implement several interactive sites that are great for our science standards. During the past three years I have continually increased my strength in technology more than any one educator in my school. At the present time, I develop and facilitate each day’s lessons utilizing the technology equipment within my classroom and/or computer lab. I also co-teach with 3 other science teachers by incorporating more technology into their lessons. Most recently I was a presenter at our district-wide Tech Fair for Web 2.0 Tools. My teaching website incorporates several pages of information for students, parents, and colleagues.

I am also a wife and mother of two grown children. My love for all types of technology led me to pursue my Masters in Instructional Technology. It is evident that our students’ future will involve technology so to be an effective teacher I needed to know more. I began playing flute again after a 34 year hiatus for pleasure in my church orchestra. I also sew and read for pleasure. I live near the beach, yet I prefer freshwater swimming and tubing. My other most recent accomplishment was flying Zero G with NASA and Northrup Grumman. The title of Space Cadet was given to me by my principal this year after I was accepted in the Weightless Flights of Discovery with Northrup Grumman and NASA. I suggest trying for it if you are a thrill seeker.  It was unbelievable. I also made the front page of our local paper.
