Well designed classroom websites “Welcome” students, parents and fellow professionals to explore and utilize the materials in an environment that is easy to navigate and aesthetically pleasing to the viewers. Incorporating the four basic design principles of proximity, alignment, repetition, and contrast as well as following guidelines for creating web-safe colors is a beginning point for a good educational website. Regular maintenance of the website to ensure ease in navigation, checking that links to other sites work properly, and updating assignment calendars demonstrates an educator’s interest in student success. Creating a more organized website, adding a blog, and sharing student work from the previous year this educator can now share her own growth in the uses of technology.
