Portfolio Introduction
Welcome to my portfolio! It is filled with examples of how I will add value to your district as a dedicated and talented teaching professional. Included is evidence of extensive educational training in CSULA’s multiple subject credential program; eleven years of volunteering experience; three years of substitute teaching experience; my ability to lead, learn, and work as a team player; excellent organizational skills; an appreciation for meeting State standards; and an awareness and commitment to addressing the needs of all students within a multi-cultural school environment.
My teaching pedagogy reflects the many positive experiences I have had in CSULA’s credential program. The experience has shed light on how learning and teaching can be fun, challenging, meaningful, and rewarding. It has proven that it is possible for teachers to use varied, hands-on instructional strategies that feed individual student needs, while meeting State standards. I have discovered that there are many ways to teach and learn. Extensive volunteering and substitute teaching experiences have shown me how important it is to recognize that each student is motivated by something different, and that without motivation, meaningful learning cannot take place. In addition, through working in multi-cultural school environments, I have discovered that it is essential that you communicate on a level that everyone can comprehend.
I have three main goals as a teacher - to motivate my students to learn; to help them reach their full potential so that they can make the most of their lives; and to address and celebrate the multi-cultural makeup of both the classroom and the world.
Thank you for taking the time to see what I can offer your district.

Helen Conroy
