Open House

EXPERIENCE OF HOSTING OPEN HOUSE

As my master teacher was unable to attend Open House due to the birth of her daughter’s baby, she asked me to be responsible for hosting the event. Using suggestions from my master teacher and other teachers at the school, I made the event engaging and welcoming with the following:

• I developed a checklist/guide game, where students could win a prize if they showed their families 10 different stations that showed off their work.

• As the school community is predominantly Spanish speaking, I made a “Welcome/Sign-In” sheet, in both English and Spanish, and wrote a “Welcome” message on the board in both languages.

• I offered free coloring sheets and Native American sign language handouts at the Native American Activity Center.
