Whole Class Lesson - Identifying Character Traits using Text Support

For the 5th grade class that I was observing for my writing course at Roosevelt Elementary,I proposed doing a whole group lesson plan to the classroom teacher, Ms. Becker. It was not a mandatory assignment, but I felt it would be beneficial to take the oppportunity to gain experience writing and implementing a lesson plan for an entire class.

When I asked Ms. Becker for feedback on the type of lesson I should conduct, she suggested doing one on identifying character traits using text support, as her students needed help with this. Thus, I developed a lesson plan of this nature to present to her class. I did this using a poem I had written about a fight I had with my sibling over a peach when I was young. I also had the class compare the poem to a piece of literature on siblings that the class had already done some character analysis on.
