Story Pictures Rationale

Context:

This assignment was created for CI 3750, Intergrating Media and Technology into Teaching, Spring 2007 under the instruction of Mary Rogers.  My group members were Elyse Addington, Jessica Beckworth and Nancy Coxe.  The technologies we used for this assignment were Microsoft Work, Adobe Photshop, and a digital camera.

This lesson plan was designed with the intention that students intergrate literature and technology skills using a well known story The Tortoise and the Hair.  This assignment covers language arts and technology and was developed to be used by third graders.

Impact:

This assignment was intended for students to gain an understand of the use of Microsoft Word, the abilty to copy and paste, and  use creative writing skills.  Students also gained knowledge about language arts through the story of The Tortoise and the Hair and used seqencing and literary terms.

Alignment:

This lesson plan met the following NETS-Technology Standars:

  • NETS-T VI-E:  I met this standard by providing different senarios and opportunites for students to complete this assignment such as an online translator for ESL students and students worked in pairs or groups so that everyone got a chance to work on a computer.
  • NETS-T II-A:  I met this standard by ensuring all students had an equal opportunity to use the computer and work at thier own pace.
  • NETS-T IV-C:  I met this standard by using a rubric to assess students work.
  • NETS-T IV-A: I met this standard by asking students to print out their work to turn in.
  • NETS-T VI-D:  I met this standard by reminding students of the of the physical saftey while using the computer such as posture, placement of hands, etc.
