Context:
I completed this assignment during my GS 4401 class during block II in the fall of 2007 under the advisement of Jeff Goodman. Over the course of this assignment I observed the moon for three nights and recorded its activity. I watched how the moon changed over the course of time and was able to better understand the phases of the moon. My thoughts and reflections as well as drawings were recorded.
Impact:
By completing this assignment I was able to gain a better understanding of the moon's phases. I now feel that I am able to teach the moon's phases to children and explain why the moon looks so different at certain times and goes through a cycle.
Alignment:
I met NC DPI Standard 2 indicator 2 by understanding relationships between the relationship between the shape of the moon and how the sun is hitting it.
I met NC DPI Standard 3 Indicator 3 by understanding the moon cycle and how it orbits the earth. I also observed the moon for three days and saw it change.
I met NC DPI Standard 12 by drawing my observations of the moon over a three day period as well as drawing the phases of the moon.
