In my Introduction to Exceptional Learners course I became more aware of the issues surrounding those with special needs, including disorders, disabilities, and giftedness.  Through discussions, videos, and readings I received an overview about exceptional learners, emphasizing factors relating to characteristics, current practices, identification, and educational adaptations.  I have become more understanding and comfortable with those who have exceptional needs, and I am now more knowledgeable about how to include and accomodate them in my future classroom.
