NoodlesWS.jpg

The main idea of this lesson is to have the students create designs using different noodles.  This activity will give the children practice counting and noticing patterns.  It will allow them to differentiate between different shapes and numbers.  I chose this lesson because it incorporates art with mathematics.  I think that the kids will enjoy this and not completely realize that they are doing math at the same time.

Noodle Numbers

Children will create a number using pasta noodles.

Materials:

  • Colored construction paper
  • Glue
  • Pasta noodles (different shapes like spirals, rings, etc.)

What to Do:

  • Give pasta noodles and glue to each individual.
  • Have the children create a number using their noodles, and glue the noodles to the paper.
  • Have the students count the number of noodles they have used.
  • Collect the completed pages and display them.
