As a teacher I hope to facilitate life long learning skills for my students. I plan to teach them the basic skill that they will be able to build on as they progress through their educational careers. I want to them develop a broad knowledge and sense of acceptance of all cultures in their community. I will encourage active learning and cooperation among all my students. I plan on communicating high expectations for all of my students. I plan to achieve these goals through incorporating cooperative groups and other partner work into my classroom. Also the establishment of a learning community will aid in the implementation of learning. I feel that as an educator I will be able to provide an invaluable learning experience for my students so that they may become valued and productive members of society.
I will graduate from Appalachian State University in December 2006 with a B.S. in Elementary Education with a concentration in art.
I strive to obtain a job in North Carolina in a K- 6 public school classroom.
