Michael DiBiasi: Secondary Education Teacher

Michael DiBiasi: Secondary Education Teacher

My name is Michael DiBiasi and I am pleased to introduce myself and my website/portfolio. Here you will find information about me including my resume, teaching philosophy, contact information and my belief statement. You will also find the ten Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (INTASC) Standards, linked to these standards are a variety of artifacts I have accumulated over my student teaching experience that I feel relate to that particular standard.

I just finished my student teaching experience at Grace A. Dunn Middle School teaching 7th grade Social Studies. It was truly an amazing experience to be placed in an urban school district with a very diverse student population. I have always wanted to teach in an urban school district and this experience has strengthened my goal and desire to pursue this profession in inner cities. Humor for me is a great way to get the students involved, focused and prepare them for what is coming next. A lot of students in urban areas find Social Studies boring and not interesting, however I have discovered through a variety of lessons if you make the subject interesting they will be more willing and able to pay attention and give it there all. I also take advantage, if the opportunity presents itself, of bringing history to the students, I enjoy bringing in actual historical artifacts to the students so they can see and touch actual history; the look on their faces are priceless and they get the students talking about the subject outside of the classroom.

I hope you enjoy viewing my website and online portfolio I created, I had a fun making it, however it is still under construction. I am constantly adding new artifacts, lessons, units and awards to the site, check back at any time to see if anything new has been added. Below is my contact information if you would like to reach me if you have an questions about the material on the site or for more information. Thank you!
