  1. 13 Colony map activity 13 Colony map activity
The 13 Colony map activity was a great lesson, than again, every lesson i did with map work was a big success. The students map skills are very low and this was a unique way to get the students to understand where the colonies are located, how were the three major regions divided and what states resided in those divisions. Each students got three different colored pencils and they colored in the regions while labeling the various states. Reason for placing it in the "Instructional Strategies" standard is because this shows that the students are building their skills and applying the information. They're developing their map skills and later on in the lesson they're referring back to it to understand why those colonies formed and why they are located where they are.
  2. Road to Revolution timeline Road to Revolution timeline
Road to Revolution timeline was the best project I had the students do in my time at Dunn Middle School. The students were responding well to the directions and really understood 1) how to create a timeline and 2) what was expected of them. all of the projects came out beautifully and it's all attributed to the hard work the students put forth. This lesson is in this standard because it built upon the students skills which they will use as the unit progresses. I would constantly refer back to this timeline project as the lessons went on so they would apply the information they just researched and applied.
