This lesson was already used in another standard but I feel it also fits in well here, in the "Learning Environments" standard. I set the room up in groups, one groups job was finding information for the Middle Colonies, another group the Southern Colonies and the final group the New England colonies. They were seated in a circle in their respective groups. This lesson worked very well and was pleased how it all came together, since it was my first time attempting such a lesson it was interesting to see how it all unfolded for the best. Students understood the content, they had positive social interaction, they were engaged in the learning and since each student was responsible for answering at least one question, I feel the students reached their potential in learning the content. The students seemed to really enjoy the group work and the seating arrangements which was a great thing to witness.

Here's a link to my Teaching Philosophy which discusses my classroom management techniques and what to expect in a Mr. D classroom. Collaborative work, interacting with history, and expectations, are all mentioned in my philosophy.
