| "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." |
I strongly believe that each individual child should be viewed as an exceptional student who is always in need of a caring and enthusiastic teacher who will provide a safe and motivating class environment for him or her to fully develop intellectually, socially and emotionally. As a future teacher, I hope to provide an environment such as this for all of my students. I plan on accomplishing this by guiding my students down the right path (intellectually and emotionally), and by also allowing them to discover themselves through education. My plan is to provide a lot of hands-on activities that will open up the idea of self-discovery. In order to keep them involved in the learning process, I hope to be able to plan hands-on activities that are based on my students' individual interests. Through their self-discovery, I believe that they will continue to grow in my classroom.
I also believe that my efforts as a teacher will allow me to accomplish personal growth as well, because in order for me to be an adequate teacher, I will have to involve myself in a process of continual learning. Through my accomplishments in education, I hope that my students will be able to develop a love for learning. I hope that they will notice my love for my own individual learning as well as my love for their learning. I feel that there is a great demand for teachers who are kindhearted, tough, and enthusiastic about working with children. Students need to be able to sense that their teacher is conscious of and committed to their individual needs. I hope to meet each and every one of these demands during my quest to become the best educator that I can be for myself and for my students.
