PhotoEssay Rationale

Context

As a requirement for my Science Methods course during Block II, I designed a PhotoEssay that was based upon science related questions that children might ask.  In order to construct this activity, I used a digital camera to take still photos of the environment around me.  Afterward, I inserted the pictures along with the questions onto a slideshow using the Microsoft Power Point program.

Impact

As a future teacher, I will be able to use this activity to integrate technology and science in the classroom.  I can also use this activity as a way to help students to construct their own scientific questions that they might want to learn about throughout the year within my classroom.  This slideshow might help to remind students of scientific questions that they have had in the past.

Alignment

I met standard 3, indicator 1 by using my knowledge about the basic life science concepts to construct the questions used within this PhotoEssay.

I met standard 3, indicator 3 by using my knowledge about the basic earth science concepts to construct the questions used within this PhotoEssay.

I met standard 15, indicator 1 by using real-world applications that interest a diverse population within this PhotoEssay.  This can be seen through my use of the environment around me for the pictures within the Power Point.
