Discovery Question:  List some of the criteria that are important in judging the validity of a website and its appropriateness for use in the classroom. What are some of the possible outcomes of having students use websites that you haven’t evaluated for appropriateness.

 

Agenda:

 

  • SFPL databases – demonstration and practice
  • Finding and Evaluating Websites
  • I-Movie Introduction:  Digital Storytelling
  • Work on Webquests

 

 

ASSIGNMENT: 

  1. Finish Webquests.  Be ready to present Webquests in class on October 20. DUE:  Email Webquest URL (web address) to Miranda by October 19.

 

  1. Collect and create materials needed to create I-Movie.  This includes pictures, music and voiceovers.  This is very important as we will begin working on the I-Movies on October 20.

 

  1. Choose and research one of the following technologies as it relates to education or potential uses in education. Be ready to discuss it online onOctober 6.

 

Avatars

Cell phones/smart phones

Online gaming/console gaming

 iPods/portable media players

Second Life

Social Networking (Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc.)

Tagging/social bookmarking

Podcasting/video podcasting

Interactive whiteboards and classroom response systems

Netbooks

Digital textbooks

YouTube/online video

Or another new/emerging technology of your choice.
