ICTS 7: Planning for Instruction

Standard 7: Planning for Instruction. The teacher plans instruction that supports every student in meeting rigorous learning goals by drawing upon knowledge of content areas, curriculum, cross-disciplinary skills, and pedagogy, as well as knowledge of learners and the community context.

Performance

ICTS 7.P(h): 
The teacher individually and collaboratively selects and creates learning experiences that are appropriate for curriculum goals and content standards, and are relevant to learners.

ICTS 7.P(i):
The teacher plans how to achieve each student's learning goals, choosing appropriate strategies and accommodations, resources, and materials to differentiate instruction for individuals and groups of learners.

ICTS 7.P(j):
The teacher develops appropriate sequencing of learning experiences and provides multiple ways to demonstrate knowledge and skill.

ICTS 7.P(k):
The teacher plans for instruction based on formative and summative assessment data, prior learner knowledge, and learner interest.

ICTS 7.P(l):
The teacher plans collaboratively with professionals who have specialized expertise (e.g. special educators, related service providers, language learning specialists, librarians, media specialists) to design and jointly deliver -- as appropriate -- learning experiences to meet unique learning needs.

ICTS 7.P(m):
The teacher evaluates plans in relation to short- and long-range goals and systematically adjusts plans to meet each student's learning needs and enhance learning.



INSTRUCTIONS

1. Provide links, attachments, etc., to artifacts that support your competency across the six performance indicators of this standard.

2. Provide a self-analysis as to why you feel you have earned a "Proficient," "Basic," or "Unsatisfactory" score in the performance indicators of this Standard.

Required artifacts:

  • Unit plan with a sequence of learning experiences that provides students multiple ways to demonstrate knowledge and skill, utilizing TES Unit Plan Template.
  • Formative assessment you created and utilized in planning further instruction
  • Lesson plan based on the formative assessment data, utilizing TES Lesson Plan Template
  • Evidence of collaboration with a professional with specialized expertise

Note: Between the required and optional self-chosen artifacts submitted, candidates should address all the performance indicators of this standard. The unit and lesson plans submitted for this standard may also be utilized as evidence for other standards, as different elements of the plans address different standards.
