This is a list of equipment, electronic resources, and support supplied though the MSTP/EETT grant..

Equipment

Technology placed in MSTP supported  mathematics and science classrooms is:
The following equipment has been placed in each of 82 LAUSD middle school mathematics and science classrooms through the MSTP grant:

20 wireless student laptops, either 12" iBooks or 14" Gateway PCs.
Vernier probes, may include temperature, motion, pH,
       and conductivity sensors (selected classrooms)
Activboard electronic whiteboard and wireless slate
LCD projector
Digital camera
Digital camcorder (one per school)
Network laser printer
Scanner
Teacher laptop computer
Eighth grade mathematics classrooms received TI-84+
       graphing calculators
Proscope electronic camera microscope

http://www.mathforum.org (Drexel University site) - The Math Forum helps students learn mathematics through the use of the Internet and innovative technologies.

http://polymathlove.com interactive animations that demonstrate mathematical principles. This site is a commercial site but contains many free interactive activities.

http://www.hotmath.com (free during school hours) – subscription service that shows step-by-step explanations for the actual homework problems in math textbooks (odd-numbered problems only).

http://www.homeschoolmath.net/ - a comprehensive math resource with an extensive link list of games, interactive tutorials & quizzes, and teaching tips.  The resources emphasize understanding of concepts instead of just mechanical memorization of rules.

http://www.school.discovery.com/schoolhome.html  - the Discovery educational home page has links to math and science resources.  It has “brain boosters” with some good math activities, a puzzle maker, downloadable clip art gallery, and “study starters” which are “amazing science facts,” meant to stimulate students to think about a particular topic. One drawback: this is a commercial site and they do try to sell you stuff.

This site also has links to sites that deal with other areas of interest to the educator: professional development, teaching and learning, and planning and evaluation.

http://www.girlsinc.com (site just for girls) –activities and motivation for girls, but mostly non-curricular.

http://www.nationalgeographic.com/education/  - searchable by subject, resource, and grade level, and has links to other sites. Free resources include lesson plans, short downloadable videos, and interactive activities.

http://genscope.concord.org - GenScope is a learning environment that uses the computer to provide an alternative to text-based science education. It provides teachers and learners with a new tool that enables students to investigate scientific and mathematical concepts through direct manipulation and experimentation.

http://infozone.imcpl.org - homepage of the Indianapolis Marion County Public Library. There are lots of links here; looking under “Find It” takes one to links in many curricular areas.
