Philosophy of Teaching

Outstanding teachers are leaders for their students by providing appropriate knowledge and materials to foster hands-on, cooperative learning. They also understand that each classroom presents a unique blend of students who vary in learning styles, abilities, and cultural backgrounds. These differences must be recognized in order for students to excel in their interests and reach their highest learning potential. When students are active participants in the classroom, they feel safe, motivated, and are likely to develop a stronger passion for learning. Outstanding teachers must establish caring relationships early on in the classroom, to ensure that every students feels safe, welcomed and part of a cohesive classroom community. They must also establish a strong network of resources in order to meet the needs of all students.  Continuous communication with parents, principals, counselors and other teachers will create a lasting foundation in a student’s education.

As an outstanding teacher, I achieve various skills in the areas of classroom management, lesson planning, curriculum, use of technology, and assessment tools.  I also collaborate with other teachers and faculty to ensure that I am effectively delivering my lessons and differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all students. I know that my patience, organization, dedication, and passion for teaching will lead me to become a mentor, role model and valuable member of any school community.
