My name is Kaitlyn Fischer and I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Rider University in May 2012, with a double major in Elementary Education and Psychology and a minor in Early Childhood Education. For the 2012-2013 school year, I am currently a Kindergarten teacher for the East Brunswick School District. I provide a safe and stimulating classroom environment for my students with strong academic success. 

Highlights:

1. Reading and Writing Workshop: Daily implementation of Lucy Calkin's literacy model including: mini-lesson, active engagement, independent and partner practice and guided groups. Created an ideal learning environment with high expectations for all students. Proven success of student academic growth based on running records, daily conferences and on-demand writing samples.
2. Responsive Classroom: Implemented morning meeting to enhance climate.
3.  21st Century Technology: Utilized SMART board technology, PowerPoint presentations and a document reader in daily instruction of all content areas. Used district-wide technology to modify student behavior. Created a blogging page to establish positive relationships with parents.
4.  Columbia Reading and Writing Workshops: Attended professional workshops from keynote Columbia University teaching specialists. Worked one-on-one with Teacher's College literacy specialist to plan and deliver a month-long writing unit.
5.   Effective classroom management techniques: Skilled in using nonverbal techniques.                          
6. Professional Learning Communities: Collaborated with teachers to enhance understanding of curriculum.                
7. Behavior Modification Techniques:  Used positive reinforcement, behavior charts and token economy approaches when addressing difficult student behavior.
8. Everyday Math: Taught engaging lessons using SMART board technology while implementing guided groups to differentiate instruction.
9. Kidwatching: Used various observation techniques to monitor and assess student growth.
