Classroom Management Philosophy

My philosophy on classroom management is that in order to create a safe environment that promotes academic and social emotional learning, teachers must create rules and routines as well as establish caring relationships with their students. It is necessary to create rules and routines so that students know what is expected of them and how they should behave in certain situations. Rules and routines are also beneficial because students respond well to predictability and structure. In addition, establishing caring relationships are important because students who view their teachers as caring are more likely to engage in learning, take risks in the classroom and adhere to classroom rules. Both of these components of classroom management are necessary in order to help reduce the possibility of misbehavior before it begins.
